# Nightly Builds

Nightly builds are automatically generated builds that are created from the latest development version of IPFire. They are intended for development and testing and are not recommended for production use.

Testers are asked to report any test results.

### Automatic Distribution

Nightly builds are automatically distributed in the testing trees. This allows developers and testers to install any updates easily, early and often.

| Git Tree | Version[^version] ||
|:---:|:---|---|
| `master` | N.1 (testing) | This contains what is supposed to become the next Core Update. Pretty stable. |
| `next` | N.2 (unstable) | This contains a Core Update that is still in the making. There might be dragons, but still worth a try in a test environment. |

[^version]: N is the current main version (e.g. 2.25)
