HCL-Network

This is a summary of reports from our IPFire users about the network cards they used. It is very important for us to learn about network cards that didn't work or if they have any limitations (eg: only 54 MBit). If you can't find any information about your card on the wiki, please don't hesitate and send an email to eXciter with as much information as possible.

Usually WLAN network cards are not shown during installation, but it will be possible to configure the Access Point after the first reboot.

Mini HowTo

Use the following commands within an IPFire shell.

lspci -n

Network devices can be identified by the number [020X]. The important information is the ID of the device(s). That is a sequence of numbers after a colon, for example 10ec:8139 or 10de:054c.

Then run:

lspci

to get the manufacturer and name.

For USB devices, find the required information with:

lsusb

The loaded kernel modules can be shown with the command:

grep DRIVER /sys/class/net/*/uevent
